K4 & Cinema-Class Designs

The Lenard K4 system provides the ultimate of what is achievable for large scale audience applications. These systems sit at the far end of our design range, providing consistency and seamless integration, and the largest in scale and power.

This is the system Hotblack Desiato and his band Disaster Area would want! (reference; Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy: Restaurant at the end of the Universe, by Douglas Adams).

K4 Professional

The K4 Professional systems maintain precise dispersion for far field projection and the acoustical image remains consistent across large distances. They are fully 4-way active*, achieving full-fidelity sound.

Being horn loaded, the system behaves similar to a plane wave front by projecting the acoustic centre 6db forward. This provides the illusion of the performance being closer than it actually is, thus creating the ultimate 3D virtual-reality experience.

A unique advantage of the K4 is it's "Lego-style" modular adaptability. There is no limit to the number of cabinets that can be stacked or the variations in which the cabinets can be arranged. The K4 can be configured for audiences of a few hundred up to a million people or more. This is the only singular system configuration in the world able to achieve this.

Being floor standing, the system can be structured on a much larger scale than conventional line-arrays, but please note this is not intended as a replacement for ceiling strung line-arrays.

Specifications

K4 Professional systems are made and configured to order and to suit the specific requirements of the venue, application and environment. All K4 systems are fully 4-way active with D-class amplification, power supplies and active electronic crossovers included.

System structures are modular and scaled according to the requirements of the application.

K4 Professional systems are ideal for venues and environments with capacities above 10,000. For installations below 10,000 capacity, the Legend Class system configuration is recommended.

K4 Cinema

Be transported into the story. You have been beamed up and blown away!

Imagine being in a rainforest and very attentive to the sound around you, hearing subtlety of detail which extends into infinity. Record this, go home and play it back on a standard small stereo system. You will find it will only be recognisable to you because of your memory of the real sound. Turning up the volume will not make it sound more real.

The sound is only made real by removing the boundaries that standard (relatively) small, low fidelity systems impose. This can only be properly achieved with larger scale, 4-way active electro-acoustic technology.

The K4 system for Cinema delivers the experience of the reality of the sound by moving the sound field into the audience so you are included within the story. Across the whole cinema the sound scape is consistent, placing everyone in the "sweet-spot". We call this experience Cinesthesia.

This experience can be replicated for home cinema and small cinemas across our entire design range.

Design philosophy - Cinesthesia®

Capturing our sense of hearing into a 3D experience carries the other senses with it, for example, giving the image a 3D perception. This gives the audience the feeling they are within the film. From watching a 2D screen, we are now carried into the story adventure and included within it, without glasses and nausea!

Filmmakers work hard to have you become part of their film. It is with incredible skill, creativity, vision and passion that the timeless, most iconic films are produced with masterful sound tracks. Why? Because creators of great films know that sound is 50% of the motion picture experience.

The charter for our K4 Cinema system has been to honour these creators by delivering this second half of the motion picture experience and help them realise their dreams of a virtual-reality experience for their audiences.

Synesthesia (or Cinesthesia® as we like to call it) is a marvellous natural phenomenon of our imaginations that allow us to integrate sound and picture into a 3D perception.

Oxford Dictionary Online – synaesthesia – noun [mass noun] Physiology & Psychology, "the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body".

Dictionary.com – Syn-es-the-sia, [sin-uhs-thee-shuh, -shee-uj, -zee-uh] – noun, "a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces visualisation of a certain colour".

Wikipedia -  (American English) or synaesthesia (British English) is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.[1][2][3][4] For instance, people with synesthesia may experience colors when listening to music, see shapes when smelling certain scents, or perceive tastes when looking at words.

K4 Professional and Cinema Disclaimer – The above is understandably dependant on the sound production quality of the film and acoustic treatment of the environment. The better these aspects are, the more enjoyable and realistic the experience will be.
